Summary
As the Community and Operations Assistant Lead for the School of X (SoX) team, you will be instrumental in implementing initiatives, events & engagements, which are designed to support the SoX community in continuing their design practice beyond the classroom. The aim is to enhance the effectiveness of SoX programmes in generating sustained change.
The role offers the opportunity to implement the strategies and actions that support and enhance post-workshop efforts for sustained learning, practice and solution implementation. To stimulate and enable continued learning and practice, you will be key to building the community of practice and in proactively shaping the engagement efforts to bring about an active and participative SoX community.
The role also offers the opportunity to design and implement project management and administrative processes that enable the successful delivery of impact-focused training projects. You will get to engage clients throughout the entire SoX journey and support their business needs, from proposal development to contract management to post-workshop engagement.
This role will suit a detail-oriented person with strong organisational and project management skills, who is motivated to inspire others to use design to make the world a better place. You should possess excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a strong sense of empathy to enhance your engagements with our stakeholders.

About the Design Practice (School of X)
The School of X is a team within the Design Practice unit of Dsg. It is a classroom without walls, established by DesignSingapore Council to equip everyone with collaborative design skills and design-led creative thinking capabilities to solve real-world social and business challenges, with lasting impact. Participants, design experts, and challenge sponsors collaborate to co-design solutions to complex shared challenges, coached through the SoX method of design thinking, and guided by SoX towards implementation of their solutions. Responsibilities
This position reports to the Senior Assistant Director, School of X (SoX). As Community and Operations Assistant Lead of SoX, you will help develop a vibrant and engaged community that supports members in their continued journey to use and apply design-led creative thinking skills during and after the business or and community challenge projects participants would have engaged in with the SoX. You will also support the SoX team in various aspects of business and training operations of the SoX programme, including organising workshop logistics and managing the SoX administrative procedures, resources and website.
Community Engagement
- Contribute to, and implement, stakeholder engagement plans for participants graduating from SoX programmes, to enable sustained practice and learning
- Manage outreach and organise regular events to engage members of SoX’s Xplorers Community of Curious Practice
Communications and Website Management
- Manage community communication and outreach through the SoX website, social media and Dsg's other engagement channels
- Develop, or contribute to the development of, visual assets for use in social media and marketing campaigns
- Manage SoX website, including website maintenance and content updates
Business Administration
- Support SoX business operations, including contract management, tracking and monitoring of key metrics, finance processes, and reporting functions
- Provide training operations support to drive effective learning and project outcomes, (e.g. by supporting logistics, set-up, managing inventory etc)
Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
- Has at least 3 - 5 years of experience in community engagement and development, project management, and business and/or training operations
- Ideally brings some familiar with public service operating environments and processes
- Has strong inter-personal and communications skills, and understands stakeholder sensitivities and requirements for public-facing communications
- Has some experience in managing social media accounts, and generating engaging content
- Has strong administration skills
- Is performance-driven and meticulous, with a keen eye for detail
- Is resilient, a keen learner and open-minded, who enjoys agile environments and new experiences
- Is a good team player and enjoys collaborating and co-creating with others
- Has some understanding of design thinking or innovation (although this is not critical)
